The techniques used for Castello del Terriccio wines  are simple. The winemaking process here is intended to enhance the original characteristics of the grape and preserve the special tones acquired from the terroir. Vinification is carried out separately and with different times for each individual variety, plot and year. Without any filtering, the wines are then aged in new Allier barriques and tonneaux for Lupicaia and Castello del Terriccio, which are subsequently reused for Tassinaia. The varieties for Lupicaia and Castello del Terriccio  are aged on average for 20/22 months  and Tassinaia for 14/16 months, before being blended. Every wine is given the time to mature and express its potential, leaving ample space for further evolution and improvement. After bottling all red wines are reserved for between one and three years of further ageing.

Tasting notes
Brooding, dark red and black fruits rest on a foundation of saddle leather, mocha, crushed flowers, warm cigar wrapper and spice in this caressing, velvety ’10 bottling. The Tassinaia swaddles the mouth with chewy tannins that lead to a lingering, long finish. Located in the Maremma, Castello del Terriccio builds on the legacies of Sassicaia, Ornellaia, and Il Macchiole, and this Super Tuscan will thrill wine-lovers who can't get enough of those iconic wines. A blend of Cabernet Sauvignon and Merlot grown in a sandy, stony 37.5-acre vineyard, the grapes ferment half in temperature-controlled stainless steel and half in used oak with malolactic fermentation; the wine aged for six months on the lees before bottling.
